I was so excitted about purchasing this phone. Consumer Reports rated it so well and the price was good. Over the course of two days each time I used it one my end it sounded like I was talking in a barrel. Then the final straw was I could hear myself echo in the phone while I was talking.

I needed a phone that had a speakerphone, headset capability and a mute button, without an answering machine or additional cordless phones. This phone is fantastic. Used the speakerphone option for over three hours along with the mute button without any issues. Great sound quality too. Overall great phone for the money.

I recently purchased the AT&T Cordless Phone Model E-2801 from Target and would like to register my complete satisfaction regarding this impressive product priced so economically. If you are looking for a basic cordless phone with nice, bright, straight-forward but simple, conventional styling which offers all the bells and whistles most callers require (caller id, large storage capacity for frequently called numbers, speaker phone, remote locator, etc.) in a pleasing ergonomic package, this phone is 'world-class' in its' category. Although using older technology (2.4GHz instead of the more advanced and pricier 5.8GHz), the E-2801 has outstanding range and clarity over a very wide listening area inside and outside the residence, has almost no noise clutter, interference susceptibility or drop-out problems, has a very large, lighted Caller ID screen and large, lighted digit buttons, volume controls for both speakers (external & internal), excellent speaker phone clarity, volume and distinctness and also offers other amenities (such as different ring tones) for customized individual use. This phone is remarkably functional and well designed for its' very low purchase price. Search high and low and you probably won't find an equally superior product for anywhere near the money.
